Once you hit your 30s and you’re still single, people are going to start treating you differently. You aren’t in college anymore, you aren’t some young ingenue. You’re this woman who should have had everything planned out in advance. The 30-something age group has something about them that is a little boring, but this is only because of outdated ideas that usually is met with unsolicited and equally out-of-date advice. That’s why you shouldn’t ever say these things to a woman in her 30s.

1. You have to have a baby before you hit your mid-30s.
Say what? Did we forget that there are plenty of women who have children when they are in their late 30s, even mid-40s? Yes, it is harder to have kids at this stage of your life, but it isn’t impossible! Besides, a woman is much more than her reproductive capabilities. You never go up to a man in his mid-30s and tell him he needs to hop on the baby train, right? Right.

2. You shouldn’t wear that anymore.
Although your body may have gone through some changes now that you’re 30, this doesn’t mean your wardrobe has to. People seem to think that if you’re 30, you can’t wear miniskirts, crop tops, and other sexy garments. If you’re comfortable in your skin and like the way you look, go for it!

3. You should try meeting someone online.
Really? Don’t you think a 30-something woman hasn’t thought about trying that? How do you know she isn’t already on one of these dating sites? Just because she isn’t shouting it from the rooftops that she’s on this site or that site, it doesn’t mean she’ll meet a guy any quicker.

4. You’re just too picky.
When you’re younger, you’re told never to settle and go after anything and everything you want. However, now that you’re in your 30s, maybe it is time to go through that list of must-haves in a partner and get rid of the nonsensical stuff that doesn’t really matter.

5. You’re not a mother, you wouldn’t understand.
Look, we know that taking care of your kids is going to be stressful and it’s a unique experience. However, simply because this 30-something woman hasn’t pushed a baby out of her vag, it doesn’t mean she can’t offer a sympathetic ear.

6. You’re never going to meet Mr. Right in a club.
Although this might be true, it doesn’t mean we can’t go to the club, get a drink, and dance with a cute guy in the meantime. Besides, who said you had to meet men at the club? Maybe it’s just a girl’s night out!

7. There aren’t any fun birthdays anymore.
When you’re in your 20s, birthdays usually end up with a drunken hookup, embarrassing pictures, and those brutal hangovers. Now that you’ve hit your 30s you might feel like you have to tone it down and behave maturely. Well, yes and no. You can still have fun!
